Initially settled prior to 1715, the Town of North Haven, Connecticut was first a part of the Town of Windsor. North Haven is located twenty miles northeast of Hartford and is comprised of forty-one square miles rich with history like that found in the North Haven Green Historic District which in 1997 was added to National Register of Historic Places. In this delightful village, you’ll find many gorgeous old buildings, some of which have been restored and renovated to serve new purposes while retaining the area’s vintage charm. Additional points of historical interest include the Ratcliffe Hicks Memorial School which was constructed in 1908 and today is the Hicks Municipal Building. Similarly, the North Haven Arts Center is housed in the original 1879 Town Hall, which is located directly across from the Municipal Building. What was the North Haven County Bank in 1830 is now home to the North Haven Board of Education, and The Courthouse recently became the home of the French Canadian Genealogy Library and a museum of the North Haven Historical Society. The Hicks-Stearns Homestead is another charming museum you’ll find in North Haven .
