Founded in 1720, the small rural town of Bolton, Connecticut, has a very convenient location only twenty minutes from Hartford and the University of Connecticut. Home to just under five thousand residents, Bolton is primarily residential and its economy is primarily supported by small businesses. The community’s tagline is “A Town for All Seasons,” and it is a popular destination for day trips because of its many nature-oriented activities and outdoor recreation opportunities. For example, the town is home to Freja Park, Indian Notch Park, Herrick Park, Nathan Hale Greenway, part of the East Coast Greenway, Hop River State Trail, and Bolton Notch State Park.

Bolton also boasts a long history and was originally part of Hartford. At that time it was known as Hanover or Hartford Mountains, all the way up until its incorporation. Then, in 1808 the northern part of the community became the town of Vernon. Throughout its history, this Tolland County community has been home to several notable residents including Senator Simeon Olcott, NHL defenseman Ron Hainsey, artist Ralph Earl, and Representative Maud L. Woodward. In addition to the parks and greenways mentioned above, today Bolton is also home to Munson’s Chocolates, Bolton Heritage Farm, Fish Family Farm Creamery, and several restaurants including Georgina’s Pizza Restaurant and A Villa Louisa.

Also adding to the appeal of Bolton real estate are the town’s many engaging annual events, festivals, and celebrations. Among the locals’ favorites is Farm Day at the Fish Family Farm, held each September. Real estate is Bolton epitomizes quaint New England charm and offers proximity to Vernon, Manchester, and several major transportation routes, including US Route 6, US Route 44, and Interstate 384.
