The Interesting History Behind Orange CT

Orange CT has an interesting history. The land was once purchased for ten blankets, six coats, one kettle, twelve hoes, twelve hatchets, a dozen small mirrors, and two dozen knives by Rev. Peter Prudden from the Native Americans in 1639. The population grew so big by 1822, that what was once the northern and eastern parts of Milford, became the town of Orange. The town was named after the Prince of Orange, William III of England.
