Southington Homes for Sale

With a fabulous location one hundred and five miles southwest of Boston, eighty miles northeast of New York, seventy-seven miles west of Providence, and only twenty miles southwest of Hartford, the community of Southington, Connecticut, is a lovely place to call home. Southington encompasses the smaller communities of Milldale, Marion, and Plantsville, each of which has its own unique architecture and its own post office. This lovely town is nestled in a valley with mountains on its west and east sides. Furthermore, the Ten Mile River, Eight Mile River, and the Quinnipiac River all flow through town. Also contributing to the desirability of its location, it is bisected by Connecticut Route 10, sits off Interstate 691 exit 4, and along Interstate 84 exits numbered 28 through 32.

Nicknamed “The Apple Valley,” Southington is a growing town with numerous orchards and a nationally known Apple Harvest Festival each fall. It is a great place to raise a family and has highly respected schools, including one high school, two middle schools, and eight elementary schools. This charming Hartford County community is also home to Lake Compounce Amusement Park and the Mount Southington Ski Area, as well as several public golf courses, swimming pools, playgrounds, and parks. Moreover, the town has a quaint downtown, as does Plantsville, with delightful shopping and dining opportunities. Both downtowns are situated along the Southington Linear Trail, which happens to be a section of the larger Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.

Other noteworthy points of interest in and around Southington include Rogers Orchards, Cava Restaurant, Anthony Jack’s Woodfired Grill, El Pulpo Restaurant and Tapas Bar, Escapism LLC, Witchdoctor Brewing Company, Karabin Farms, Kinsmen Brewing Company, and the Barnes Museum. Collectively, these advantageous features add to the appeal of Southington real estate. Homes for sale in Southington include a wide variety of properties that range from modest starter homes and fixer-uppers to apartments and townhouses to large, luxury homes.
